Summer is nearly here and for many that means vacation time.

And whether you’re visiting or live in South Carolina, the state has plenty of vacation rental opportunities. From lakefronts to beachfronts, the Palmetto State likely has something for you.

Just be prepared to lighten that wallet if you want a top tier experience.

Vrbo has a collection of amazing but pricey home rentals in South Carolina. Below are the top five most expensive and luxurious vacation home rentals currently on the site.

Overlook the May River

Location: Wilson Village in Bluffton

Cost: $2,903 a night

The listing for this five-bedroom, six-bathroom home rental promises spectacular views of sunrises on the May River. It also notes that this is the first time the coveted penthouse on Boat House Row has been made available to renters.

“Boat House Row is located in the heart of Wilson Village, just a few steps away from the Buffalos and River House restaurants, bike and golf cart rentals, water excursion take-off docks, the stunning May River chapel, and much more,” the listing states. “You will also be just a short bike-ride away from the Montage Hotel and the Octagon restaurant, RT’s Market, the May River Golf Course, and Wilson Lawn and Racquet Club.”

The highlight of the penthouse is its expansive outdoor area, which includes an oversized fire pit, screened-in gazebo dining area and a charming courtyard — all with incredible views of the May River.

Ocean Point home

Location: Isle of Palms

Cost: $1,833 a night

Enjoy a luxurious family vacation at this rental home at Ocean Point at Isle of Palms. The 5,436 square-foot house with six bedrooms and five bathrooms overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and the 17th Fairway of the Links Golf Course.

Features include a freestanding hot tub on the ocean-view deck, an electric golf cart that seats six people and is available for rent with your stay, a community pool, a second-level living area with a pool table and a piano on the first floor.

Ocean Point is a gated neighborhood within the gated community of Wild Dunes, offering extreme privacy.

“You will feel truly away from it all, while remaining close to the restaurants and shopping of Isle of Palms,” the listing states.

Location: Isle of Palms

Cost: $1,639 a night

This 4,700 square-foot rental with seven bedrooms and six bathrooms is located across the street from the Isle of Palms beach. The home features ocean views, a private pool and hot tub, multiple outdoor balconies, a game room with a foosball table and a chef’s kitchen.

21 Sand Dollar

Location: Folly Field, Hilton Head

Cost: $1,597 a night

21 Sand Dollar is a second-row ocean home that is perfect for large groups and families, the listing states. The 2,319 square-foot home has seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms. Key features of the home include a 2-minute walk from the beach and a pool and spa that can be heated for an additional charge. Also, the home was recently refurbished with new painted interiors, flooring and furnishings.

The Rosemary House

Location: Cannonborough neighborhood, Charleston

Cost: $1,583 a night

Vacation in the heart of Charleston in this historic single home. The recently renovated house is 4,290 square feet with eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms. The house is filled with modern design elements, but still holds its historic character and charm with its original hardwood floors, high ceilings and beautifully crafted molding, the listing states.

Guests will get to enjoy two suites separated by an interior door. Both suites have a private outdoor piazza and a large open living room.
