If you’re planning on booking a trip to Europe for early 2023, extra comfort on the flights over the Atlantic might be a good choice with these discounted prices.
Right now we’re seeing some impressive deals on premium economy tickets on a long list of routes to major European cities for the first few months of the new year. If you live on the East Coast, you may be able to find round-trip airfare for under $1,000 — and in some cases well below that mark — to Copenhagen, London, Paris, Brussels, Barcelona, Rome and Milan.
Premium economy is a great option for those who might not have a business class ticket in the budget, but who would like to have some extra leg room and a bit higher-level service on transatlantic flights.
It’s a good idea, though, to buy those tickets when the prices are trending lower, and that’s certainly what we’re seeing right. While there have certainly been times when we’ve seen prices on a single route well below what we’re seeing right now, what’s great about this deal is just how many routes are included.

We took note of round-trip deals around $1,000 or below in premium economy. That being said, there are many, many other routes right now coming in between $1,100 and $1,300 round trip in premium economy — so if the city you’re looking for isn’t mentioned here, keep in mind that you might still be able to get a discount compared to prices that can often range well above $1,500 for an extra comfort ticket. That goes for other destination cities in Europe, as well as for departures from the Midwest or West Coast.
Keep in mind, many of these itineraries do require a connection in the U.S. or abroad depending on the airline, but no connections exceed more than a couple of hours.

Let’s start with a flight out of New England: An early-February flight to Spain. Traveling on Oneworld partner Iberia, you’ll depart Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) for the overnight nonstop flight to Barcelona, arriving mid-day on an Iberia Airbus A330. You’ll be able to do plenty of sightseeing on your last day in Europe, as the return flight doesn’t leave until 6:45 p.m. local time.
Here’s an option for South Florida travelers, just after the new year begins. This premium economy round trip from Miami to Copenhagen goes for $988 aboard Air France. Your late-night departure brings you overnight to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) aboard a Boeing 777, before a brief layover and a final hop of less than two hours to Copenhagen.
You’ll make an even shorter connection in Paris, midday, on the return trip to Miami.
These deals include good options for those looking to book an early spring trip, with availability during the month of March. This option from New York to Milan goes for just over $1,000 aboard Delta Air Lines, which means you’ll be flying in Delta’s Premium Select Cabin on board one of the carrier’s Airbus A330 aircraft.
It’s nonstop in each direction, with a 7:30 p.m. departure from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) getting you into Milan at 8:30 a.m. the next day; it’s a late morning departure on the way back.
Finally, here’s an example of an itinerary for those hoping to visit Brussels, Belgium. Departing from JFK on Delta in January, you’ll travel aboard a Boeing 767 in Premium Select, with a 7:25 p.m. departure for the overnight flight that gets you into Brussels shortly before 9:00 a.m. Once again, it’s a late morning departure on the way back.

Don’t forget to use a card that earns bonus points on airfare purchases, such as The Platinum Card® from American Express, which earns 5 points per dollar on airfare booked directly with the airline or through American Express Travel (on up to $500,000 on these purchases per calendar year). Flights to and from Europe are all the more enjoyable when you have some extra comfort along the way, and right now you can take your pick of European cities with premium economy tickets at a more affordable price than usual.
